How will I meet with you?
All counseling sessions are by videoconference. You can attend from your home or office or anywhere. Once we make an appointment, I will send you a link, you click it, and you are in the videoconference space. You do not need to download anything and you do not need to know anything other than how to click a link. You can do this on a computer or your smartphone.
What will happen in our first session?
We will talk. You will tell me why you are looking for a counselor to talk to. I will ask you some general questions that help me get to know you. We will talk about what goals you have, and if you don’t have any, we will talk about what you would like your life to look like and then we will start figuring out the steps needed to get there.
How often will we meet?
That depends on your own situation. After our first session I’ll make a recommendation about how often we should meet, but we will make a decision together about how often to meet. Then we will schedule the next session.
How do I pay?
You will be asked to pay prior to each meeting. There will be a payment link in the same email with your meeting link.
How much does it cost?
My fee is $100 for each session. How much it costs overall depends on how often we meet. I have discounted fees available for people who need them. If cost would keep you from meeting with me, simply ask about discounts and we’ll make sure we put you in a plan you can afford.
I see that you are an intern. What does that mean?
Licensed mental health counselors must have a Master’s degree, which includes completing an internship. Interns have completed most or all of the required classes. They begin seeing clients and working as a counselor, but they have a licensed counselor acting as a supervisor. This ensures that brand new counselors have an experienced counselor to review things with as they are beginning their work. As a client, your experience will be the same as working with a licensed counselor, but you will be asked to acknowledge that you understand your counselor is an intern and may discuss your matter with their supervisor.
